Powell Schools: Olentangy Local School
District |
 |
Olentangy Local School District,
also located in Delaware County, is a district with a strong sense of pride and
commitment. Academically, our school system is competitive with some of the
best districts in central Ohio. Olentangy students have scored well on
proficiency tests, ACT and SAT tests, and have received numerous academic
awards. Over 90 percent of our students go on to college. The success of our
students has raised our level of recognition to one of the premier school
districts in central Ohio.
Olentangy students have consistently ranked
at or near the top in the reading, writing, math, and citizenship sections of
state-mandated proficiency tests. Our elementary program has been on the
cutting edge of research-based education. There are four elementary schools
located throughout the district, with a fifth scheduled to open during the
2000-01 school year.
The middle school boasts fine sports, music, and
academic teams. Construction is currently under way on a second middle school,
which will open for the 2001-02 school year. Olentangy High School, completed
in 1990, has been upgraded with the addition of approximately 149,000 square
feet. High school students are offered advanced placement classes,
post-secondary educational options (ie, concurrent enrollment at local
colleges/universities), and courses at other Delaware County high schools.
Foreign language students travel to Spanish and French speaking countries to
experience the language, the people, and the culture first-hand. Instrumental
and vocal music students not only perform locally, but are afforded the
opportunity to compete and perform in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Tampa. A
work-study coordinator, a supplemental services teacher, and a vocational
education coordinator are available to assist children with
handicaps.
The average expenditure per Olentangy student exceeds $6,000
per year. Our high tax base means the citizens can have as fine and
comprehensive a school system as they are willing to support.

intimidating -- Accredited -- Recognized for excellence by a national
foundation or the U. S. Department of Education -- Competitive in teacher
salaries -- Above average in instructional expenditures on a national
percentile basis -- Above average in expenditures for library/media

Closing or Settlement >A Successful Closing
The closing table is where buyer and seller can celebrate the final stage of a successful home sales transaction. On this happy occasion, you sign the closing papers, trade keys, and wish one another well. It is to everyone's advantage to prepare for the closing such that all the details are worked out in advance.
As the home seller, how can you help ensure that your closing is a relaxed, cooperative event? First, enlist your real estate agent's help to ensure that all issues are resolved ahead of time. Repairs should be completed, agreements kept, the house broom-clean and ready for the new owners to move in. The atmosphere doesn't need to become adversarial, and minor upsets should not threaten the entire transaction. If you anticipate a problem, no matter how minor it may seem, be sure to communicate the situation to your real estate agent in advance, so that it can be resolved before the final closing date.
